1. Research the Job Position
It is important you spend some time reading and re-reading the job specifications and requirements. This will ensure you have the right answers to questions asked by the interviewer. You might have a variety of skills and experiences. However, when at a job interview, always try and draw attention to the fact you have the right experience and skills for that particular job.
2. Dress Appropriately
The clothes you were to an interview do not make you but they go a long way in making a first impression of who you are to the interviewers. Dress formally and refrain from over-accessorizing with too much jewellery. Also don’t wear anything that is too bright or flashy. It’s better to be safe than sorry so dress conservatively even if this isn’t your usual style.
3. Act Confident
This includes your body language and the way you talk. Don’t slouch or stutter during your interview. Sit upright and project an aura of confidence. Even though your interviewer might be listening to what you are saying and trying to access you on that, sub-consciously they’ll be picking up on your body language and you might get the job based on this.
4. Ask the Right Questions
At the end of the interview, you’ll be encouraged to ask questions by your interviewer. This is not the place to ask how much the job pays or your annual holiday entitlement. Ask questions like
* What challenges is the team currently facing?
* What do you like about working for this company?
* What career progression is possible?
